Aspiration Day

Year 4 2024 - 2025

We designed, made and evaluated our slogan art. As artists, we were influenced by the style of Bob and Roberta Smith. In year 4, our enquiry has lead us to know that art is powerful and gives us chances to show off our creativity and imagination.

As artists, we explored slogan art created by Bob and Roberta Smith. We designed our own about slogan art about graffiti based on Bob and Roberta Smith's style. 🎨👨‍🎨👩‍🎨

In English, we have been writing, rehearsing and preparing play scripts based on Cinderella. Today, we performed them to each other and evaluated our performances against the success criteria!

As artists, we experimented with different shading techniques to recreate one of Banksy famous artworks.

We have had a great time with Severn Trent Water. We have unblocked sewers; fixed broken pipes; been on a VR journey through the water system and became scientists!

We took part in European Languages Day.

Y4 is ready for our autumn enquiry, do we need water or does water need us?

As part of DT, we designed and made our own flavoured Christmas themed bread.

This afternoon, we made Snowman ornaments for the Christmas Tree! We will be selling them at the school's Christmas Fair 🎄 ☃️

Here is a sample of our finished pieces of art which were inspired by Monet

This afternoon we have been tasting existing bread products before we design our own. We thought about the appearance, texture, taste and smell.

In art, we have been using watercolours to create a painting in the style of Monet.

World Science Day. We have been learning about the hydrological cycle in science, enquiry and English. We have created water cycles in bags to show the process. In science we have been made mini rainforest to show evapotranspiration, evaporation and condensation.

We have created mini water cycles in a bag to help us understand the processes of evaporation and condensation. 🌧🌧

The children had a great time at our Diwali Workshop! They got to taste food eaten during Diwali, create a class rangoli pattern and try on traditional clothing worn during the celebration

Here are a sample of our explanations, What is a river?

Year 4 got to enjoy Severn Trent's Wonderful Water Tour today! They became engineers (unblocking drains and fixing broken pipes), scientists (testing and cleaning water) and worked in the call centre. They also took part in an interactive quiz and virtual reality. It was great fun and linked to our enquiry of 'Do we need water or does water need us?

In science, we investigated irreversible changes.

Today we used Just Dance in PE to learn the box step as it was raining outside.

As part of our hook for our enquiry, do we need water or does water need us, Seven Trent came to school and delivered an assembly and workshop all about hydration and why drinking water is important.
